Since we first planted corn in the spring, I had it in my head that I would make my own “foddershocks” this fall. This was my first time making them and I was a little intimidated simply by their size! However, it was a super simple project and took less than an hour to put it all together.
I started out with about 30 stalks of corn that were mostly already dried out. These had to be cut from the ground rather than pulled up- otherwise lots of dirt came with them.
I separated the stalks into two equal piles and wrapped floral wire around them about 2/3 of the way up the stalk. I am no good at tying bows, so I used a premade bow on the right and (since I had only ONE premade bow), I decided to go with an asymmetrical look on the left. The little scarecrows came from the dollar store and E thought they were so adorable!
Once I got the foddershocks how I wanted them, I was able to lean them upright and decorate around them.
The wreath was handmade by my mom and I thought the pops of vibrant color looked great against the door.
Our door is Wythe Blue by Benjamin Moore.
Although it’s a work in progress, I’m feeling happy about our first little area of fall decor. I plan on adding a fall doormat soon and some pumpkins (E is super excited about “picking pumpkins from the pumpkin patch!”)
